They average 45 calls a year and both organizations also attend community events and educate the public about boating safety.
COMRA recently participated and helped with the City of Oshawa Canada Day Festivities at Lakeview Park, providing static boat tours of the COMRA at the pier in Oshawa, as well as assistance with fire works setup. The photo above is of the COMRA tied up on the pier giving a tour to a young family.
During the event we also provided assistance to Durham Regional Police with 2 SAR calls:
1 being the successful rescue off the Bluff of Bonnie Brae Point, and another was a disabled vessel off the Beach of Oshawa.
Also helping us help our community, The Ontario Trillium Foundation is an agency of the Government of Ontario.
For 25 years, it has supported the growth and vitality of communities across the province. OTF continues to strengthen the capacity of the volunteer sector through investmentsi in community-based initiatives.
